For months, I had driven by a taco truck on Morse Road just east of Cleveland Avenue and considered stopping by given my taste for mexican food. But taco truck adventures are kind of spur of the moment happenings. Or at least they are until after you’ve made the first trip. Given all the hubbub as of late concerning the roach coaches (a term of endearment learned from my California cronies who have experienced such mobile eateries for decades and not necessarily reflective of their quality), the motivation was there to give one or more a try(s).
A friend (Q) and I set out to try El Nuevo Tacos Tao at 4366 Karl Road, just south of Morse Road by a couple blocks. After considerable circling and neck-craning we located El Nuevo on the east side of a parking lot near the Ohio Department of Taxation, a night club and a small grocery store. I recognized the area as very near the Northland Apartment community. We weren’t too impressed with the location. Nor were we impressed with the loiterers hanging about. Call it instinct, intuition, juju or maybe poor judgment but we decided to try El Nuevo another time.
Until then, el trucks taco eating adventure was put on the back burner. We’ll try again later and issue a full report.
9-18-09 – just received an update from a reader: “Taco Taq has now moved to a new “safer” location on Schrock.”
Hmmm? I wonder why? You get crap even if you are right these days.

Here’s my thoughts on New Taco Tao:
“I drove over here after reading about it on the web. It’s a really dirty truck with a really dirty table. Forget it. ”
On the other hand, Taquikin Taqueria y Loncheria Movil, which is actually on Morse Rd, I said:
“Went back tonight for a couple more taco pastors and an order of refried beans. And tried the roasted jalapenos. They weren’t as hot as I imagined. Also had an orange soda. Very good food. Highly recommended!”
