Pork Dumplings at Ying’s Teahouse and Yum Yum
FineRepast finally made it over to Ying’s Teahouse and Yum Yum in Clintonville, Ohio. Ying asked me what I wanted and I said - “Only the best!” She said that many Americans like to order General Tso’s chicken. I replied that I wasn’t interested in Americanized Chinese Food. So she served me up the Pork Dumplings with Won Ton soup. I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of the dumplings at Spring of China, so I was interested to see how Ying’s homemade stacked up against some of the finest dumplings that I had had.
Ying’s dumplings did not disappoint and left me with the urge to run over to Spring of China for a quick taste test to see if they still held their Ichi Ban spot (forgive my Japanese). It’s too close to call right now but I’ll follow up later as to the Dumpling King/Queen of central Ohio.
Ying’s teas are fabulous as well but on this occasion I was still flying high on
the caffeine fix provided courtesy of Colin’s Coffee
(see related story below) in Arlington.
October 19, 2007 update
I’ve since been back to Ying’s twice now. Her Slim Magic tea is fabulous! It’s a blend of rose and sweet chrysanthemum, orange blossom and mint. Also her Home Style Spicy Pork Noodles Soup is incredibly good. We also enjoyed her Lemongrass Tofu Soup. Ying’s has become a regular stop on my dining out rotation.
