La Chatelaine’s Worthington Patio
In search of yet more fine patio dining in Columbus, I visited La Chatelaine’s Worthington location. Even though their patio abuts High Street, it’s far enough away from the traffic so that you can enjoy your meal in relative peace. What would have been interesting is if La Chatelaine had put a patio where their parking is located behind the restaurant. I suppose they needed the parking, but what a great, secluded spot for some fine patio dining (unless you’re into people/automobile watching). I’m sure as things wind down in the evening, La Chatelaine’s patio becomes more of a tranquil spot to enjoy your dinner.
La Chatelaine’s lunch special
I ordered the lunch special which includes a ceasar salad, choice of soup, and choice of sandwich. The drink and quiche were extra. It’s always a real trick to carry a loaded tray out to the patio. I wonder how many people wipe out in the process. The salad and french onion soup were nothing to write home about. The prosciutto and brie sandwich was very tasty albeit tiny (the brie melted in your mouth like warm butter). For $7.50, you sure didn’t get a lot of food and none of it was really french. Good thing I added the bacon and ham quiche extra. The quiche’s crust was exquisite. It was very well done. I left the Chatelaine wondering what was french about my meal and considerably lighter in the wallet. Oh well, at least they have a nice patio.

This place has a nice atmosphere but the food is very disappointing and extremely expensive for what you get.
I’ve lunched here several times when in the area and had the tomato soup, quiche lorraine, and the casear salad and turkey sandwich. The soup was so, so, certainly nothing to brag about, and the quiche tasted hard as if it had been sitting there for hours.
I literally saw the manager take part of a salad off a person’s plate and put it back in the big bowl behind the counter for re use!!! Needless to say, after seeing this I’ll never eat there again!
Another odd thing, they charged .75 cents for a pat of butter!!!! I’ve never heard of this before!
