Here it is - at no charge - the secret to making a fortune in the restaurant business in central Ohio -
serve okay food at cheap prices.
That’s it - it’s really that simple. Look at El Vaquero. Okay food at cheap prices and those restaurants are always packed. Alright, El Vaquero adds lightning fast service to the equation plus they serve alcohol.
Alright, let’s modify that equation a bit - (okay food/cheap prices) x (good service) raised to the alcohol exponent = gold mine
Maybe that’s why there aren’t many good breakfast joints in central Ohio - you can’t make money if you don’t have the alcohol exponent. Despite the lack of alcohol, the Wildflower cafe gets the job done on the okay food and cheap prices counts.
I recently revisited the Wildflower for lunch. I had Mom’s Meatloaf Special. Very tasty! Beware of the desserts. The blueberry cobbler and the bread pudding were fantastic!

We need more charming little breakfast diners such as this one. Overloaded on Sunday at noon with the avid, overweight church goers of Columbus, this really is the place to go for a great starchy, cholesterol ridden breakfast. I love breakfasts like this.
My favorite is the corn beef hash with scrambled eggs, and everything comes with toast. But, you are afforded the opportunity of ordering all manner of additional carbs a la carte, such as a blueberry pancake or two, or a cinnamon roll, or an extra bagel, if you like.
I suggest being in a position to take a luxurious nap after this breakfast/brunch if you really want to capitalize on this experience. Besides, the coffee is just so-so, and you can always grab one around the corner at Mozart’s when you are ready for tasty caffeine intake.
