Finerepast, et al., visited Cardone’s about a year ago and reported a pleasurable overall experience. Finding ourselves in the neighborhood again and given Westerville’s seemingly small selection of places to eat, we decided to revisit Cardone’s for a second go round.

Guest reviewer, luvs2dine, reports:

My main inability to enjoy this meal rested upon being seated at the bar and watching two booths and one table stay open during our entire meal. The food was mediocre, at best. But more stunning was the unsophisticated manner of receiving and dealing with guests. Apparently, all three open tables were reserved despite our early arrival on a Saturday at approximately 5:15 p.m. The creative or savvy business mind could have seated us, and had the guests arrived before we were finished, the maitre d’ could have offered them complimentary drinks at the bar and seated them just a few moments later. The veal sauce was sweetened with what seemed to be an obvious amount of sugar, was a little tough, and the fish was drenched in butter and overcooked. Shaving a little cooking time off both entrées would have provided a more palatable meal, and ensured that we were in and out of there in a little under an hour – being of no threat to the reservations that were being held for over an hour after we arrived at the restaurant.

When we arrived and discovered that our only choice was to be seated at the “full service” bar perhaps we would have done better to have left at that point. The bar was an uncomfortable experience unless you enjoy bar stools and staring into the corner.

Arancini at Cardone's

We must, however, recommend the Arancini. It was especially delicious with the provided garlic sauce.

Despite the threat of impending reservations, three tables open during majority of our meal, as well as one booth available throughout the entire meal.

We found it confounding and frustrating that plenty of open tables were available throughout the duration of our dining experience at Cardone’s.

At least one family determined that bar seating was not to their liking and left.

Veal Marsala at Cardone's

As with our last experience, we found much of the food to be sweet, even the Veal Marsala. I prefer a more robust Italian flavor but apparently the chef has a sweet tooth.

Sea bass at Cardone's

The sea bass came out a bit overdone. The ratatouille made an effort to save the entree but came up short.

If you are headed to Cardone’s bring your sweet tooth and make reservations unless you enjoy being seated at the bar.
