One happy customer at Katzinger's!
Finerepast, et al., found themselves looking for a breakfast spot in downtown Columbus. Where to go? Where to go? First Watch? Lindey’s Brunch? Katzinger’s? We were close to Katzinger’s so why not? Although it’s more of a lunch spot, we knew they had breakfast fare and breakfast fare in decent portions. Not to mention the free samples of breads and cheeses and olive oils as you wait. And I’ve got a man-sized appetite especially after fending off the pillagers and the plunderers of the world and attempting to educate their willfully ignorant lemmings.
I made life easy and stuck to the breakfast menu instead of trying to wade through all 19 food menus plastered on the wall near the ceiling. After some internal debate, I opted for #60 Here’s Jeanne Again -Smoked Nova Salmon, Cream Cheese, Tomato, sweet onion on a open-faced bagel along with a potato latke and a fudgie brownie.

This is not the best shot of my Katzinger’s #60 although it does give you a nice look at the sweet onion. If memory serves, it was served on a brown Russian bagel. This was a good start. I would have also added some pieces of boiled egg and capers to the mix for a little extra zip or maybe a little hot sauce.

Potato Latke at Katzinger's Deli
At the time of our visit, Katzinger’s fryer was down and they had to grill up a potato latke for us. It was very well executed on the grill and it made a great side to the Here’s Jeanne Again beginning.
I didn’t get a shot of the fudgie brownie. It was very good. I am a bit taken by the triple chocolate cookie delight found at the Northstar Cafe. Nothing really compares to its incredibly rich and chocolaty goodness. I would call it decadent but it is just one cookie after all, despite its size. I mean were not talking about a chocolate lava volcano or death by chocolate or numerous other similar chocolaty concoctions with as various appellations. Who can feel too bad about eating one cookie?

Katzinger’s Corn Beef Hash breakfast special (yeah, the damn camera phone rears its ugly head again)
My wife tried the corn beef hash special and thoroughly enjoyed it. Her only complaint was that it filled her up too fast and she couldn’t finish it.
So why Katzinger’s for breakfast? I went in expecting to wait in line but apparently that mainly happens around lunch. This place was practically empty for breakfast at 10:30 am-ish on a Sunday. Perhaps many don’t think of it as a breakfast spot or maybe it’s the cost. Katzinger’s ain’t cheap but if the food is worth it, who can complain. Well, I guess I’m divulging the secret. Why not give up a few more? Katzinger’s is having a wine and chocolate tasting this Wednesday, March 4 starting at 6:30 if I’m not mistaken. That Katz’s website also reveals a online casino netDine Originals Week in Columbus starting on March 9. 42 restaurants are offering 42 fixed prices meals at discounted prices. Check it out.

Here’s my thoughts on New Taco Tao:
“I drove over here after reading about it on the web. It’s a really dirty truck with a really dirty table. Forget it. ”
On the other hand, Taquikin Taqueria y Loncheria Movil, which is actually on Morse Rd, I said:
“Went back tonight for a couple more taco pastors and an order of refried beans. And tried the roasted jalapenos. They weren’t as hot as I imagined. Also had an orange soda. Very good food. Highly recommended!”
