It was a little after 10 p.m. on a Sunday. I called over to La Casita – “Sorry, we closed at ten,” despite background noise belying plenty of customers still there. I called over to La Hacienda Real, “Sorry, we’re closing early tonight.” On a whim, I called over to Mad Mex, “The kitchen is open til midnight.” Sweet heavenly Jesus, there is a God and his name is Dios.
My wife had turned me on to Mad Mex quite some time ago as she often brought home their California Grilled Salad with Lime Cilantro Vinaigrette Dressing.

Mad Mex California Grilled Salad with Chicken
This salad rocks especially with the Lime Cilantro Vinaigrette Dressing. Yeah, these pictures weren’t taken at night as we were just at Mad Mex the day before – that’s how good it is. I’ve also tried their Chopper Salad as I’m a fan of garbanzo beans. Very tasty as well. I’m kind of wondering what exactly is Mexican about these salads. I’ll continue to wonder.

Nachos a la Mad Mex
My spouse opted for the Nachos a la Mad Mex. I enjoyed the guacamole that were part of the mountain of Nachos. They definitely made school lunch nachos look meager.
We were disappointed that the Tequila Flights were now served in plastic pee cups and the quantity seemed halved. Apparently, students have a habit of walking out with the real shot glasses.
Service can be a little iffy and the patio/outdoor tables could be a little cleaner. Oh well, it’s definitely cleaner than Mean Mr. Mustards ever was. Did I mention that the kitchen is open til midnight!

Here’s my thoughts on New Taco Tao:
“I drove over here after reading about it on the web. It’s a really dirty truck with a really dirty table. Forget it. ”
On the other hand, Taquikin Taqueria y Loncheria Movil, which is actually on Morse Rd, I said:
“Went back tonight for a couple more taco pastors and an order of refried beans. And tried the roasted jalapenos. They weren’t as hot as I imagined. Also had an orange soda. Very good food. Highly recommended!”
