Giada’s Everday Italian |
I recently revisited La Tavola. I hadn’t been back there since last summer. And I really hadn’t planned on being back there again but a friend wanted to meet there and life is about second chances, right? Well, La Tavola or the family table got it right the second time around. I again ordered the calf’s liver which tastes nothing like the liver that your mother used to make. In fact, it doesn’t really taste like liver at all. It tasted fantastic and was ultra-tender. Amazing stuff which was complemented very well by the Barbera wine! If you think you don’t like liver, you’ve just never had it done right. They done it right at La Tavola. Here’s their official menu description – SAUTEED PROVIMI CALF’S LIVER- TOPPED WITH BALSAMIC ONIONS AND PANCETTA. |
On the suggestion of the waitress, we tried the Asparagus wrapped in Prosciutto di Parma with Mascarpone Cheese Grilled with Lemon. The waitress described this as the best thing she’d eaten in her life or words to that effect (the wine may have muddled her communication to me). It was damn good! I’m not sure if it was the best thing I’ve ever had but definitely fine eatin’.
I finished up with a cranberry tart which was not too sweet and nice and tangy, just like I like it.
This time at La Tavola there were no ridiculously long waits. In fact, not much waiting was to be had at all. It helped that we arrived at 9:50 p.m. on a Saturday night when most of the customers were on their way out. In fact, we closed the place down. Call it a little revenge for the last time we ended up waiting on them.
If you go, the wine is very affordably priced so drink up.

Here’s my thoughts on New Taco Tao:
“I drove over here after reading about it on the web. It’s a really dirty truck with a really dirty table. Forget it. ”
On the other hand, Taquikin Taqueria y Loncheria Movil, which is actually on Morse Rd, I said:
“Went back tonight for a couple more taco pastors and an order of refried beans. And tried the roasted jalapenos. They weren’t as hot as I imagined. Also had an orange soda. Very good food. Highly recommended!”
